Sorry for not updating this blog for a very very long time due to unforseen circumstances. Will do an update from now on (hopefully). We had a successful bazaar last week at Lets Eat Food Court, 3 mins walk from Pondok. That was the first time we brought the bazaar outside Pondok (after 4 successful ones), to allow others to participate and gave a different sort of feel to the event. We managed to raise some RM3000 and the proceed went to help an underprivelleged local family to build their new home. The all-day bazaar featured stalls selling stuff like handicraft, Christmas goodies, second hand items, plants, produce and even rabbits from The Wildlife Park. The next event, the 3rd Annual Charity Christmas Bazaar will be held on Dec 5. Venue has yet to be confirmed. We're looking at alternatives spots along Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah - easy access for tourists and hoping to raise more money for charity.

Wedding at Pondok Keladi

For the first time in 4 years, we hosted a traditional Malay wedding (finally) on May 1 and 3. We had had European weddings for less than 50 guests at a time before.

But this time around some 400 guests thronged to Pondok! It was very pleasant to see the beautifully decorated marques and the multi-racial guests mingling with one another. And the bride and groom looked every inch royal in their resplendant outifts! Congratulations!

Langkawi Accomodation - Pondok Keladi

Pondok Keladi started as a dream idea in 2003. We wanted a house near to the coast but conveniently away from the nightlife of numerous restaurants and resorts. Now it has become a reality, located in a small secluded village of Pulau Langkawi, Malaysia.

Situated close enough to the beaches (15 min walk) with the subtle nightlife of restaurants, shops, bars at Pantai Tengah and Cenang, the retreat of Pondok Keladi offers peace and wild tranquility on this beautiful island. It is 15 min drive from the airport and 25 min drive from the ferry terminal in Kuah.

Set in acre of coconut trees, adjcent to a wooded hillside, it is ideally suited to those who wish to unwind and enjoy the atmosphere of a small 'kampung'. At the beginning of the drive there are picturesque views of padi fields and the distant hilly horizon.

We have only six bedrooms comprises 3 doubles and 3 singles where all are tastefully furnished with ensuite bathrooms, a/con, hot water, mini fridge, ceiling fan and tables and chairs and the verandah. We also have a communal kitchen at the Balai, an open sided centrally located covered area.

The garden has been planted with various tropical species of flora and fauna and they are several lily ponds embedded on the grounds in front of the rooms. In the adjcent woodland there are often monkeys in the coconut and rubber trees including the coy Dusky Leaf. We also have hornbills, squirrels, flying foxes, butterflies, eagles and various exotic birds who come to observe us at times.

The room rates are RM90 to RM110 per room per night. Maximum of two persons in a room. Special rates for long-stay guests. The rate incl free coffee, tea, bread, butter, jam, eggs, noodles and whatever is available in the common kitchen. All food and beverages are on do-it-yourself basis. FREE WIFI for all! You can surf the internet in the comfort of your own rooms!
